From our Principal
As you are all aware the WA Government has eased the mandatory vaccination restrictions from Friday June 10. This means that –
- Parents/carers and visitors who pick up and drop off students are not required to be
- Parents/carers and community members who visit sites (for events such as assemblies, dance and musical performances, parent teacher interviews and sports carnivals) are not required to be vaccinated.
Currently we have 2 teachers and 1 education assistant who have tested positive over the weekend. We have managed to arrange cover but it is still a challenge as there is a shortage of relief staff.
- Close Contacts:
If your child is classed as a close contact, then they can still attend school with the following provisions –
- They must return a negative Rapid Antigen Test each day for 7 days
- Wear a face mask
- Isolate when not at school
If you haven’t yet collected, you free RATs please contact the office.
Mrs Tracey Hughes has taken up an art position at Beaumaris Primary School for the rest of the year. Mr Michael Chandler will take up the position for Semester 2. We have organised relief for the rest of this term.
Mrs Cathy Smith is due to return to the music teacher position next semester.
Our first group of swimming lessons finished on Friday and was very successful. Despite the new venue and routines, it all went relatively smoothly. The second set of lessons starts today. Parents are welcome to attend but space is limited.
Tuart 3 will be hosting a class assembly on Friday this week. On May 27th Karri 3 treated us to an excellent assembly that focused on teamwork through a very entertaining synchronised swimming item. Thank you Ms Brennan and K3.
On Thursday we held an internal National Reconciliation assembly which was outstanding. Thank you to our student leaders and Mrs Uys. The assembly was based on the theme of ‘Be Brave! Make change! Be the change!’
Next week on Tuesday and Thursday all students will be having their school photos taken.
If your child has swimming lessons, they will need to come dressed in their full school uniform, hair ready etc. ready for the photographs.
The classroom teachers will then timetable into their day, time to get changed ready for swimming.
We have timetabled swimming classes photo times before swimming lessons.
Parents are being asked to ensure that their child is in full school uniform
i.e. yellow school shirt, maroon shorts/skirt/pants.
Photo Schedule is as follows:
Tuesday 14th June
M2, W1, B4, W3, J4, J3, J1, M3-1, T2, T3
Thursday 16th June
M3-2, M1, K3, K4, T1, B2, J2
Photo forms were sent home in week 6 with all students.
Interschool Cross Country:
Last Friday the Years 3-6 took part in the interschool cross country and finished fifth out of eight schools. This was our best result and if it wasn’t for key injuries to several students we may well have finished fourth. Well done everyone and thank you to all our parents who supported this event. You were amazing.
